Cell phone use is only a couple of decades old, and just like anything else we use in this world, revelations regarding their use have not been properly examined and studied until now. The use of cellular phones has become the norm today for people of all ages, using it to stay connected and keep in touch with friends and family. Almost everyone you see today has a cell phone. That’s why it’s so important to share documentaries like this one which are just starting to surface.

For example, a study conducted by the Massachusetts Aggression Reduction Center (MARC), which included over 20,000 children/ teens between grades 3 and 12, concluded that approximately 20% of grade 3 students already owned a cell phone. The numbers steadily rose from that point forward to approximately 25% in grade 4, 39% in grade 5  and 83% in middle school. You can read that entire study HERE.

So what have we found? Multiple studies have revealed that cell phone radiation can cause cancer.  Did you know that The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified radio frequency fields (including those from cell phones) as a possible cause of cancer in 2011?

The dangers of cell phone use gained a lot of mainstream credibility in 2011 when the World Health Organization (WHO) admitted that cell phone radiation may cause cancer. The statement was based off of a cumulative decision made by a team of 31 scientists, from 14 different countries, after reviewing evidence that suggested this to be the case.

It’s great to see films like this getting ready to surface, the film is the trailer to Mobilze, a documentary that is set for release in September 2014.

New peer-reviewed research finds that 30 minutes' exposure to LTE cellphone radiation affects brain activity on both sides of the brain.

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep. 23, 2013 - BERKELEY, Calif. -- The first study on the short-term effects of Long term Evolution (LTE), the fourth generation cell phone technology, has been published online in the peer-reviewed journal,Clinical Neurophysiology. (1)
In a controlled experiment, researchers exposed the right ear of 18 participants to LTE cellphone radiation for 30 minutes. The source of the radiation was 1 centimeter from the ear, and the absorbed amount of radiation in the brain was well within international (ICNIRP) cell phone legal limits. The researchers employed a double-blind, crossover, randomized and counter-balanced design to eliminate any possible study biases.

The resting state brain activity of each participant was measured by magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) at two times -- after exposure to LTE microwave radiation, and after a sham exposure.

The results demonstrated that LTE exposure affected brain neural activity not only in the closer brain region but also in the remote region, including the left hemisphere of the brain. The study helps explain the underlying neural mechanism for the remote effects of microwave radiation in the brain.

Brain images pre- and post-LTE exposure In 2011, Dr. Nora Volkow, Director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, published a similar study in the Journal of the American Medical Association that received worldwide news coverage. Dr. Volkow reported that a 50 minute exposure to CDMA, a second generation cell phone technology, increased brain activity in the region of the brain closest to the cell phone. (2)

The current study establishes that short-term exposure to LTE microwave radiation affects the users' brain activity. Although LTE is too new for the long-term health consequences to have been studied, we have considerable evidence that long-term cell phone use is associated with various health risks including increased risk of head and neck cancers, sperm damage, and reproductive health consequences for offspring (i.e., ADHD).

Cell phone users, especially pregnant women and children, should limit their cell phone use. Moreover, cell phone users should not keep their phones near their head, breasts or reproductive organs when using the phone or whenever the phone is turned on unless it is in airplane mode.

Israeli Study Shows First Proof of Cell Phone Related CancerTel Aviv researchers have proven for the first time the link between cell phone use and cancer.

Yaniv Hamzany of Tel Aviv University led the study, which offers the first conclusive proof that prolonged cell phone exposure could increase the risk of developing cancer.

“Increasing use of mobile phones creates growing concerns regarding harmful effects of radio frequency nonionizing electromagnetic radiation on human tissues located close to the ear, where phones are commonly held for long periods of time,” the study said.

The study was conducted by analyzing the saliva of 20 subjects, who each reported using a cell phone an average of eight hours a month, a low figure according to Dr. Hamzany.

This was compared to a control group of deaf patients who do not place a cell phone to their ear at all.

The cell phone users had a significant increase in salivary oxidative stress measurements, which is linked to cellular and genetic mutations that can cause the development of tumors.

"This suggests that there is considerable oxidative stress on the tissue and glands which are close to the cell phone when in use," Dr. Hamzany said.

The findings were reported in the journal Antioxidants and Redox Signaling.

Open letter by UK medical doctors: Health and safety of Wi-Fi and mobile phones

We wish to highlight our concern over the safety of exposure to microwave radiation from wireless technology, particularly for vulnerable groups like children, pregnant women, the elderly and those with compromised health.

There is growing concern that chronic (long-term) exposure to radiofrequency/microwave radiation from wireless technologies causes damage, particularly genetic damage, cognitive damage, cancer and decreased fertility. There is now substantial evidence of a link between mobile phone use and brain cancer. This was recognised by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC)’s 30-strong panel of scientists, which in 2011 classed radiofrequency radiation as “possibly carcinogenic”.

Additionally, doctors are encountering a significant and growing number of people presenting with a range of acute (short-term) symptoms from wireless radiation, including headaches, palpitations, rashes, fatigue, sleep disturbance, allergies and memory and concentration problems.

International medical agencies have recognised the evidence of harm (see appended list) but these rulings may take many years to be reflected in public health policy. This controversy is a common characteristic of scientific understanding when environmental exposures are new.

We urge health agencies and the public to act immediately to reduce exposure to radiofrequency/microwave radiation. This is especially important for children, who are physiologically more vulnerable to this exposure and for whom adults have a safeguarding responsibility.

Children’s health should be put ahead of convenience and commercial benefits. Children should not use mobile phones except in an emergency, and WiFi should be replaced with wired alternatives in schools and other settings where children spend considerable time.

Yours faithfully,

Cell phones can cause tumors, according to a Landmark Court Ruling.

Italian businessman Innocente Marcolini, 60, fell ill after using a handset at work for up to six hours a day for 12 years.  Now Italy's Supreme Court in Rome has blamed his phone. Experts have predicted a flood of legal actions from victims

EHHI Regulate Cell Phones

Environment and Human Health, Inc. (EHHI) is releasing a new report calling for tougher standards to regulate cellular technologies—especially for children and pregnant women. This report is the first part of a project researching the health effects of cell phone use. EHHI has reviewed hundreds of peer-reviewed studies that have examined the potential health threats associated with cellular device use, along with the regulatory standards that have been adopted by the U.S. and other nations.

British Child Cell Phone Ownership

Children in the UK are almost twice as likely to own a mobile phone at the age of 10 compared to those in other countries, according to a new international study.  Three-quarters (73 per cent) of 10-year-olds here have a personal mobile compared to a global average of only 45 per cent.

Cell phones bad for children

A new theory about how radiation from mobile phones might induce brain cancer will be presented for the first time today (Wednesday 25th April) at the Childhood Cancer 2012 conference in London.

A landmark report by the World Health Organization’s cancer agency last year concluded that there is a possible link between mobile phone use and brain cancer, but how that might happen has remained unclear (1). Explaining the mechanism of how mobile phone radiation might cause cancer is vital for avoiding and ultimately preventing the disease.

Woman using laptop

Using your laptop computer on your lap is, paradoxically, not a safe way to use it.  Just as research is emerging showing that cell phones should not actually be held right next to your head, research is showing that spending long hours with a laptop on your lap -- the use for which it isintended -- is likely harmful.  Ironic, isn't it?
